The Welkom Community Police Forum (CPF) hosted its annual Appreciation Awards and year-end function on Saturday, 2 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awards are held to honour the dedicated members who tirelessly patrol the streets of Welkom and Riebeeckstad. These volunteers contribute countless hours to keep their neighbourhoods safe while community members work or rest in the evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, the CPF members received awards in various categories, highlighting their exceptional service across the five sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sector 1, covering the Riebeeckstad area, received the \u201cBest Neighbourhood Watch\u201d award for its impressive record in patrol hours and distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sector 4 earned the \u201cBest CPF Sector\u201d award for its outstanding efforts in community engagement, projects, and patrols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members in Sectors 1,2,3, 4, and 5 received members of the year awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024 alone, the CPF members logged a remarkable total of 19 975 km patrolled, with an average of 5 451 hours and 99 minutes on duty through both vehicle and foot patrols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CPF encourages community members to join the neighbourhood watch and make a positive impact in their neighbourhoods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVolunteers are crucial to our shared mission of safety and vigilance,\u201d says Dirk Kotze, chairman of the Welkom CPF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
