BLOEMFONTEIN <\/strong>– Vrystaat Landbou (VL) doen ‘n dringende beroep op die minister van landbou, John Steenhuisen, om die ongekende toename in bek-en-klouseer as ‘n ramp te verklaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jack Armour, VL se kommersi\u00eble bestuurder, s\u00ea di\u00e9 organisasie vra ook dat die bepalings van die Wet op Dieresiektes herroep word wat onbekwame staatsinstansies die alleenreg gee om entstowwe in te voer, te berg en te versprei asook om die nodige laboratoriumtoetse uit te voer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Armour s\u00ea daar is nou geen entstof vir staatsveeartse in die Vrystaat beskikbaar nie. “Dit is kommerwekkend dat die BVI-entstof wat deur die staat uit Botswana gekry is, in een geval aan ‘n hele melkkudde toegedien is wat ses weke later steeds volle bek-en-klouseermet ernstige gevolge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ons harte gaan uit na die suiwelboere wat besonder hard getref word met massiewe produksieverliese en waar slegte mastitis ingetree, genadedood om die pyn en nood van die koeie te verlig. Verhoogde kalfsterftes word ook aangemeld en die redes word ondersoek.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friedl van Maltitz, vise-president van VL s\u00ea as entstowwe deur private invoer beskikbaar gestel word, verwyder dit nie die verantwoordelikheid van die staat nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
