I thought that the Matjhabeng Location Municipality is for the people, only to realise that it is not because its authority is elected by the members of the ANC political party, not by the Matjhabeng residents.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Secondly, residents of Matjhabeng do not participate in the decision-making process. For example, the municipality authority unilaterally allowed the foreigners they cannot account for, to flock to Matjhabeng. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As if it was not enough, this municipality allowed unemployed South Africans from all walks of life to converge in Matjhabeng where there are no jobs, thereby creating problems for the municipality and residents.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to this, the authority unilaterally decided that those citizens who are employed must pay for the services of the unemployed, including the foreigners who cannot be accounted for. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is this fair?\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To my surprise the different organisations of the society such as the lawyer’s association, the religious leaders, the different political parties, and others say nothing about this malpractice.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The people who are adversely affected by this illegal practice are the whites who are hated, ostracised and discriminated against by the members of the ANC party alongside the government employee pensioners (GEPs), on whom the municipality prey. This municipality exploits the vulnerable GEPs in that they are denied rebates and indigent status, thereby contravening the provisions of section 9(3) and (4) of the Constitution of South Africa. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What the local municipality does is disgraceful, inhumane and is the direct opposite of what the caring organisations such as the garage workshops and the insurance companies do. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For instance, all the garages give pensioners a discount when they service their cars. On the other hand, car insurance companies do not charge pensioners co-payment for fixing up their vehicles subsequent to accidents. In contrast, the Matjhabeng government denies GEPs the benefits that are enjoyed by other pensioners.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not so very long ago, the municipality served only the suburban residents with the fictitious account amounting up to more than R500 000 \u2013 pensioners included. This is indicative that the authority of Matjhabeng is not in touch with reality.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality ignores the fact that a person who went on pension in 2003 has no money for paying off whatever they claim he or she owes. The bank will never give that person a loan since the person is over 80 years old.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now the question arises: When is the Matjhabeng Local Municipality going to recover the money that has been lost through BEE and the money that is alleged to have been banked at the VBS Mutual Bank, which was reportedly looted by known politicians who are still enjoying an expensive lifestyle?\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How much longer is the municipality going to be persecuting and harassing the poor pensioners by phoning and sending SMS messages to them, despite the fact that the pensioners tell them that they do not have money? \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
