Maxie Badenhorst, ward councillor, says despite years of formal submissions, complaints, and photographic evidence from the DA, the municipality has failed to act.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr van der Bijl Road, a critical route to major employers Tiger Milling and Senwes, has become completely inaccessible. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Although R5 million was allocated in the integrated development plan (IDP) since 2021, no work has been done.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Heavy-duty trucks are now rerouted through residential and business areas, damaging roads not built for such loads and endangering residents.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In Phomolong, roads near the clinic are so damaged that emergency services struggle to access the area.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Ongoing sewage spillages are further destroying roads, creating inhumane living conditions.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Badenhorst has engaged local employers and community members, and hosted a well-supported public petition on 13 May.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has also launched an online petition, and submitted a complete dossier with visuals and complaints to the municipal manager.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Badenhorst has also registered a formal council question.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Tiger Milling has already flagged production losses and cost increases due to failing roads. Without urgent action, Hennenman risks losing a major employer, with severe economic consequences.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Badenhorst is calling on the Matjhabeng Municipality to release a project plan and timeline for road repairs.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“They must rehabilitate all damaged residential roads, restore emergency access to Phomolong Clinic, and respond to all outstanding complaints. Ward 3 residents deserve safe, functional roads. I will not rest until this crisis is addressed.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
