Uitenhage High School’s coding and robotics team, Team KAI (Kariega Artificial Intelligence) will participate as one of 100 teams in a National Robotics competition, Spring Bots SA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spring Bots SA is an NPO that started in 2017, with the aim to build and enhance the skill of coding and robotics through various STEM activities and national as well as international competitions. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was initiated to equip the youth with skills to take up careers which require skills and knowledge in digital literacy and artificial intelligence. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On May 24, the Eastern Cape will be hosting their first regional competition at Lawson Brown High School in Gqeberha, where a chaperone and two teams will be selected by the adjudicators to represent the Eastern Cape at national level. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National final will be hosted on Youth Day, June 16, in Sandton, Gauteng. Uitenhage High, which recently introduced coding and robotics as an extra-curricular activity is very grateful for the opportunity to be the only school from Kariega participating in this competition. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school’s selection to be part of this competition is a big achievement as it shows the school’s commitment to develop their learners holistically and laying a strong foundation for the future by investing in robotics as a rising pillar of academic and extra-curricular development. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uitenhage High’s deputy principal, Gary Hendricks said, “Our learners have been working tirelessly to assemble and program their robot, showcasing incredible dedication, problem solving skills and teamwork. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
