A dedicated team of cyclists and their families will embark on an ambitious four-day journey from Cape Town to Kariega this April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 814-kilometre ride is organised by Droogte Hulp met Burre Burger NPC, with local organisation Fuel on Wheels joining this important initiative. Starting on April 27, participants will depart from Durbanville in the Western Cape and pedal their way to Kariega, completing their challenge on April 30. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cyclists and support crew will gather on April 26 to prepare for the gruelling 814-kilometre route, all in aid of bringing much-needed relief to drought-stricken communities through the Droogtehulp initiative.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to UD Express, the Fuel on Wheels owner, Johan Oosthuizen added, “The ride with a few guys in my neighbourhood will be for farmers and their families of the Eastern Cape. For the last eight years, it has been a tough and trying time for farmers, and the Karoo is still pretty dry, so we decided to help in the best way we know how.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, “Our team consists of a group of passionate cyclists who voluntarily take on this challenge under the name Fuel on Wheels – a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising funds and awareness for those less fortunate. Celebrating 10 years of Fuel on Wheels, we chose to take on this ride for our farmers in South Africa who are facing dire challenges and urgently need our help.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Burre Burger, the CEO of Droogte Hulp met Burre Burger NPC, added, “Every kilometre brings hope to a farmer currently going through drought, grief or financial pressure.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
