looking for volunteers to become reservists"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>THE South African Police Service in Despatch are looking for volunteers who would like to become reservists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recruitment of new reservists must be based on the operational needs and priorities of the police and the need to acquire specialised skills and competencies to ensure that suitable community members are recruited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Captain Gerda Swart, spokesperson of the Uitenhage Cluster, the attention of prospective reservists must be drawn to the fact that their services are voluntary duties, without any remuneration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTheir position as a reservist does not ensure that they will be appointed if they should apply for a permanent position in the police service,\u201d said Captain Swart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are the requirements for appointment?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the requirements are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>A candidate must be a South African citizen by birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Between 20 and 49 years of age<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Be medically, mentally and physically fit <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Be of good and sound character<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Fit the psychometric profile <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Must successfully complete any other test that may be determined by the National Commissioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Be in possession of at least a senior certificate (Grade 12) or must have successfully completed a SAQA accredited NQF level 4 qualification, of which documentary proof must be provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Be able to speak, read and write at least two official languages, of which one must be English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Allow his or her fingerprints and a DNA sample to be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Be prepared to take the prescribed oath of office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Be vetted or screened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Not have a criminal record or any criminal or departmental cases pending against him or her (all criminal or departmental cases must be declared).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span>Not have a tattoo which will be visible if the person wears a uniform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enquiries:
