EASTCAPE Midlands TVET College (EMC) welcomed back seven of its Electrical Engineering students who had been away to China on a 12 month funded international training programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme was fully funded and supported by the Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre together with EWSETA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Manager of Eastcape Midlands TVET College\u2019s Career Development Centre, Roxanne von Gordon, the main purpose of the programme was to create opportunities for the students to gain work experience through integrating them in a real work learning methodology that is utilised by the top 500 Chinese companies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme aimed to promote investment opportunities in South Africa, support job creation, expose students to international standards, enhance students\u2019 work ethics in order for them to become global citizens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seven students who left for China in April 2018 were selected based on their results, attendance, attitude and overall conduct. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis was a great opportunity for EMC\u2019s students as they received systematic and scientific training in a university and college, practical workplace experience in Chinese manufacturing companies, as well as exposure to Chinese language, culture and skills,\u201d said Von Gordon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The students successfully completed their internship which consisted of completing their studies at the Wuxi Institute of Technology, based in the city of Wuxi (Jiangsu) which has about 13 000 full-time students living and studying on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On completion of the internship the students were awarded internationally recognised certificates from both the college and employer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
China has made rapid advances in areas such as education, infrastructure and high-tech manufacturing, and is now in some areas a world leader in technology.
