{"id":52173,"date":"2019-07-25T06:01:38","date_gmt":"2019-07-25T04:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/udexpress\/rowing-club-open-day-this-weekend-20190724-2\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T23:34:03","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T21:34:03","slug":"rowing-club-open-day-this-weekend-20190724-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/udexpress\/rowing-club-open-day-this-weekend-20190724-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Rowing club open day this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>THE Redhouse Rowing Club (RRC) was established to accommodate all interested rowers who cannot join \u201crestricted membership\u201d clubs and especially to expose youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds to the sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The club opened its doors in 2017 on the banks of the Swartkops River, in Towpath Street, Redhouse, a tiny 145- year-old suburb of Nelson Mandela Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RRC also have several active rowers in the senior and masters divisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In showcasing its talent, RRC will be having an open day on Sunday (08:00-13:00), also for those who would like to try out rowing. Bring the whole family with you for a fun day out. Wear sporting clothes and takkies and bring sunblock, a cap and a towel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RRC rowers participated in the South African National Championships which were held earlier this year in Roodeplaat Dam near Pretoria. They won: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <span>.<\/span>Second place in Junior Men\u2019s U\/16 Quadruple Scull, the crew was Jade Alberts, Alakhe Jacobs, Scott Hughes and Lymea Vimva. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <span>.<\/span>Third place in Junior Women U\/15 Double Scull, the crew was Charne Bouwer and Zukhanya Ndambanbi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n <span>.<\/span>Third place in Junior Women\u2019s U\/15 Single Scull, the crew was Zukhanya Ndambanbi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The club would like to thank the members of the public for the support of two fundraising projects.
