AS part of a collaboration between Eastcape Midlands TVET College (EMC) and French National Education Ministry, the college recently welcomed back 12 of its students and four staff members who were in France for a one-week training programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training programme emanated from a partnership EMC ventured into with the French National Education Ministry in 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This partnership developed into a collaboration between EMC\u2019s Engineering and Business studies students as well as students from two Colleges in France, namely; Lyc\u00e9e Rosa Parks and Pierre Mend\u00e8s in the Vend\u00e9e District. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n Re-design of building <\/b>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a quest to advance the collaboration, the colleges agreed to work on an engineering project referred to as Building Information Modelling (BIM). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These students were expected to re-design a building situated at one of EMC\u2019s Campuses, taking into cognizance the applicable building regulations and standards of the respective countries. They were also expected to share similarities and differences in their approach to designing the building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n Working in fictitious company<\/b>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The business studies students of these colleges also worked on a joint project which entailed students working in a well-equipped simulated workplace environment. Students were given the opportunity to work in the Educational Training Company (ETC), an educational, fictitious company that was created to discover the world of work and the running of a company as a management assistant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The purpose of the collaborative project was to improve knowledge, skills and values of both staff and students, provide international academic exposure and enhance career opportunities for students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Staff and students described their experience as worthwhile, adding that, it has exposed them to the French higher education system and first world trends. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
