LEARNERS from Solomon Mahlangu Moot Law represented the district at the provincial rounds in East London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case before the court was that of a Christian faith-based school suspending a learner whose entire family had converted to Rastafarianism in the June holidays and returned wearing dreadlocks and stating that he no longer observed the Christian faith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both parts of his decision were in contravention of the school\u2019s Code of Conduct. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two Grade 11 learners from Solomon Mahlangu, Thabo Juqu and his co-counsel Masixole Nxayeka, presented well researched and prepared oral arguments from their legal essays for both the applicant (the learner) and the respondent (the school). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thabo was one of the top ten best public speakers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
