{"id":51000,"date":"2020-01-23T06:00:42","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T04:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/udexpress\/milk-man-behind-bars-20200122-2\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T00:38:15","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T22:38:15","slug":"milk-man-behind-bars-20200122-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/udexpress\/milk-man-behind-bars-20200122-2\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Milk man\u2019 behind bars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>COLLABORATION between a private security company and members from the Kamesh police station led to the successful apprehension of a male (35) suspect and the confiscation of Ritebrand milk worth over R8 500. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring the raid that was steered at two shops in the Kamesh policing precinct last Thursday, 10 Ritebrand packets containing 60 one litre boxes of milk were confiscated at a shop in Rosedale Drive,\u201d said Captain Gerda Swart, police spokesperson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the second shop in Cormorant Crescent, that belongs to the same owner, 103 Ritebrand packets containing a total of 618 one liter milk boxes and 119 loose one litre units, were confiscated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn total 797 litres of milk were confiscated and the estimated value of the confiscated milk, that is exclusively manufactured for Shoprite, amounts to over R8 500. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFurther investigations led the team to the original theft case that was registered at Swartkops police station in January 2019,\u201d said Captain Swart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect was arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll praised the team for the good work and warned the community not to buy stolen goods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cReject and report all stolen goods. Let us work together to close the market for stolen goods. It remains a crime and it is punishable by law \u2013 so too is receiving stolen goods,\u201d said Brigadier Koll. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police encourage the community to work with them in reducing crime and appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the arrest of those involved in crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Share information in the fight
