Therefore the South African National Blood Service and AlgoaFM were determined to find alternatives for the life-saving annual blood donation challenge, known as AlgoaFM Bloodline Day, to continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bloodline event started on Monday and will continue until tomorrow, to ensure proper social distancing can be maintained at all times. The target for the week will be 1 000 units of blood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SANBS is appealing to all blood donors to schedule a specific blood donation appointment, in order to keep the process safer for everyone involved. The Covid-19 virus cannot be transferred through blood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Safety measures and other info<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span> Donor appointments are strongly advised to reduce waiting periods and possible crowding at sites (041 391 8225 Joan Hattingh, between 08:00 and 16:00 or email maryke.harris@sanbs.org.za) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span> Blood donor eligibility can be confirmed in advance telephonically or via email <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span> Wearing of face masks remains compulsory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span> Pre-screening &amp; sanitizing required prior to entering a blood donation area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span> Social distancing encouraged throughout the process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>.<\/span> Increased sanitizing of high touch areas by
