<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nAt the age of 13, he began writing his own scripts and comedy material, but was not yet ready to share it in front of a live audience. In a bid to improve his craft as an actor and stand-up comedian, Roman participated in the KykNET Nasionale Toneel-kompetisie, a talent competition based in Cape Town for high school pupils who are passionate about acting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe acting competition was a great experience for me because I was able to receive feedback on my acting skills from well-known South African actors,\u201d said Roman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2018 and 2019, Roman also acted in a monologue titled \u2018Selfoonmoord\u2019 which translates to \u2018Cell phone murder\u2019 at the Afrikaans Language and Culture Association (ATKV) in Cape Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After gaining experience as an actor Roman was able to build up his confidence and in August last year, he hosted and performed at his first live stand-up comedy show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe support from my community motivated me to continue doing what I love which is stand-up comedy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since Roman began his career as a stand-up comedian, he has performed on various stages. His last show was titled \u2018You Laugh But It\u2019s True\u2019 and he is currently working on his new show titled \u2018A couple of jokes\u2019 which will be showcased on December 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Roman said his comedy material focuses on various social issues as well as small parts of his unique upbringing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEvery time I am on stage, I am able to fall into character and confidently share my comedy material. My love for stand-up comedy is a feeling that is surreal yet so amazing at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After acting in the short film No One Will which was released in June and is available on YouTube and Facebook, the director of the film Ryan Campher was impressed by his performance and has since helped Roman to establish his Facebook show \u2018The think about show\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the show Roman interviews local business-owners and local artists to allow them to share their experiences and in turn guide people in the community who are interested in starting their own business or wanting to establish a career as an artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
