Police are investigating a case of house robbery, two counts
\nof attempted murder, and an inquest after at least five armed men allegedly
\nstormed into a smallholding and attacked a family outside Kirkwood this
\nmorning, March 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli, it
\nis alleged that this morning at about 02:30, the suspects \u2013 one armed with a
\nfirearm and others with knives \u2013 entered the smallholding that is situated
\noutside Kirkwood and attacked a homeowner and his family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDuring a scuffle with the owner, one suspect was fatally
\nshot, and another was injured,\u201d said Nkohli. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the other suspects fled in a silver Toyota
\nAvanza. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA short while later police speedily responded and managed
\nto arrest three suspects and also confiscated the Avanza on route R75 near
\nKariega area in Kirkwood,\u201d said Nkohli. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe victims and the injured suspect were treated for
\ninjuries.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nkohli said SAPS specialised units and the Airwing are
\nassisting ground forces to track and trace the remaining suspect or
\nsuspects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the three suspects, aged between 23 and 50, are
\nexpected to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrate\u2019s Court on Friday, March 5 on
\nvarious charges, ncluding attempted murder and house robbery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
