The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber has announced the promotion of Prince Mpumelelo Matonsi into the role of Chief Operations Officer, effective January 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matonsi, who has served as Operations Manager for the Chamber for the past five years, will take on additional roles and responsibilities which will help drive the implementation of the Chamber\u2019s new strategic plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Chamber is probably going through the most change it has been through in its over 150 years of existence and this is necessary to ensure our relevance, future sustainability and very importantly, our ability to meet the changing needs of our members,\u201d says Denise van Huyssteen, Chief Executive Officer of the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe appointment of a Chief Operations Officer has become essential to ensure that from an operational perspective we are able to implement our new vision, while further strengthening the base of the Chamber as a credible advocacy and lobbying force.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur local businesses are operating under incredibly challenging and difficult circumstances which require that as a collective we are innovative, agile and flexible in finding solutions which will ensure that much needed investment and jobs are retained and attracted to Nelson Mandela Bay.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matonsi comes with a track record of demonstrated success specifically in the areas of addressing ease of doing business issues, driving skills development initiatives, leading Task Teams to the delivery of tangible results and fostering strong collaboration initiatives with key stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to joining the Chamber, he has served in various roles focused on managing operations for non-profit and private sector businesses. Matonsi has an MBA from Bradford University in the United Kingdom and an Honours Degree in Business Management from the University of Zimbabwe and an Advanced Sourcing and Supply Chain Management National Diploma from the University of South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his current position, Matonsi also serves in a voluntary capacity as Chairman of the Community Chest Board and Chairman of Project NMB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chamber will be further strengthening its ability to deliver value to its members through the appointment of Thanusha Pillay in the newly created position of Membership Participation Manager, effective January 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She reports to Matonsi and assumes responsibility for membership retention and growth, as well as for events and marketing. She previously served as Social Media Leads Manager at Oracle Media and prior to this was Public Relations Officer at General Motors South Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
