The elderly man and his son that were shot during a house
\nrobbery in Kirkwood yesterday, March 26, allegedly by suspects posing as police
\nofficers, have died.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, has confirmed
\nthat both father and son have died due to the extent of their injuries at a
\nGqeberha hospital today, March 27.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UD Express <\/span><\/em>reported
\nearlier today about the 71-year-old man and his 11-year old son that were injured
\nin the robbery that took place during the early hours of yesterday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have been identified as Ben Plaatjies and his son, Ken
\nPlaatjies.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police are now investigating double murder cases and one of
\nhouse robbery.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a preliminary report, it is alleged that the
\nfamily was asleep at their home in Madikeni Township in Dunbrody when at about
\n02:45, the father heard a knock on the door. He opened the door after he was
\ninformed by a person outside that they were police officials. He was confronted
\nby four males and a female who pointed a gun at him. He was handcuffed and
\nit is unknown at this stage what was taken from the house. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naidu said that the father sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDetectives are still probing the circumstances
\nrelating to 11-year-old\u2019s shooting. He also sustained a gunshot wound to his
\nabdomen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspects fled in a white VW Polo that was found at a
\nhouse in KwaDwesi by K9 members yesterday morning. \u201cIt has been
\nconfiscated for further investigation. It is further alleged that the suspects
\nwere wearing police uniforms,\u201d Naidu added.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspects is asked to contact D\/Capt.
