Wild Sunshine Media, a non-profit company working in the arts and media sector, is hosting the inaugural Kariega Book and Arts Fair on Sunday at Barkly Street Theatre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event will comprise book and art stalls, and refreshments will be on sale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several new authors and new works will be launching at the fair, one of them being Reflections in the rear-view mirror<\/span>, which is a memoir by Hennie du Toit of Kariega. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Du Toit shares his memories and anecdotes of growing up in South Africa and Southwest Africa during the 1970s and 80s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Muse<\/span> is a poetry anthology by Linsey Young of Despatch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Seisoene<\/span> is a poetry anthology from the pen of Despatch teacher, Ruben Myburgh, who shares his views on love and the season of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Woorde s\u00ea alles \/ Words say it all <\/span>is an Afrikaans\/English poetry omnibus from the pen of retired policeman, Oswald Matthews of Despatch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Snapshots of Life<\/span> is a poetry omnibus by husband-and-wife poets, David and Adelle Gascoyne of Kariega. <\/p>\n\n\n\n They share the joy and sorrows of love and life and the lessons learned from it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Writer\u2019s Toolkit<\/span> is a resource for emerging writers and screenwriters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Written by Adelle Gascoyne, who is a writer (poet, novelist) and performance writer (screenwriter, playwright), the work was funded by the National Arts Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other local authors and poets who will exhibit their work include Susan Tiervlei and Branco-Lee Casper of Gqeberha, and Marlene Potgieter, Angelique Simons and Chantal Mafiet of Kariega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Book and Arts Fair is sponsored by the National Arts Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The talented local painter Vincent Olivier (who was nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award) and his wife, Maureen (a crafter) will also exhibit their work. The couple lives in Despatch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Wild Sunshine Media will also during the fair present its annual awards between 12:00 and 14:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The book and arts fair will be from 10:00 to 16:00 and entry is free.
