All about application and supervision<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRubber Coating Technologies is successful because for us it is all about good supervision, excellent service, constant communication, and excellent products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt each site \u2013 it does not matter whether it\u2019s Aunt Sannie\u2019s chicken shed or a 9 000m\u00b2 COVID hospital \u2013 there will be supervision on the roof. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot only to make sure the preparation and application are done the right way, but also that the health and safety aspects are taken care of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe supervisor will make sure that the family doggie will not run away, that there will be no litter, and the gates are closed. They are trained to communicate with clients, and we prefer our clients to be on site so that they can be part of the process and see how our teams operate,\u201d Van der Westhuizen added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe take ownership of each site, especially when it comes to health and safety regulations. Our employees are medically screened and every third month we are audited externally \u2013 at the factory as well as on site \u2013 to make sure our health and safety exceed the standards. All personnel are trained in HIRA risk assessment and working on being Heights compliant,\u201d said Van der Westhuizen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clients can be sued if a worker gets injured<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most people do not know, is that according to construction law, clients can be held responsible for any injuries incurred while construction is taking place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBefore appointing a contractor, ask to see the HIRA risk assessment. Is the contractor registered with the compensation commissioner? Does the contractor have a certificate of good standing and are the workers medically screened? In case of an injury, if the contractor does not have these documents in place, the client will be held responsible.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you must repeatedly ask for a quotation, or if the contractor does not pitch, imagine what will happen when you pay your deposit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always ask what the product warranty is, what the application is, and inquire about the pedigree of the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many handyman folks in bakkies who call themselves specialist painters, but do they comply with all the health and safety regulations? Do they have full time supervision on the roof?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
