Enjoying business challenges, detesting stagnation, and loving to serve clients and to support the communities of Kariega and surrounding areas, are the driving factors that saw Leon Slabbert developing Cuyler Butchery from humble beginnings in 1988 to be part of the Cuyler Holdings industry over the past 34 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was very tough. We started with six employees and together we persevered through various stumbling blocks but gained valuable experience. The day I saw clients turning around because the butchery was too full, I realised we need to go bigger,\u201d said Leon Slabbert, director of Cuyler Holdings of which Cuyler Butchery at 136 Durban Street is part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuyler Butchery continuously expanded and nowadays is registered to trade at an international level. During 2021, Slabbert revamped and expanded the butchery to a state-of-the-art double storey facility covering 1400m\u00b2 and providing jobs to 120 people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is equipped with high-tech technology and apart from a large variety of meat products, it also offers vegetables, milk products, basic groceries, and a specialised biltong deli with an express till. There also are a take-away section, a cafeteria, a bottle store, rest rooms and ample parking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuyler Butchery earlier this year received its 10th Cleaver Award, a Red Meat Industry Forum initiative, which is held annually to recognise South African butcheries which are worth their beef, nationally and regionally. Aspects like quality, service, hygiene, and value for money are at the core challenging the best butcheries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On receiving the award, Leon said, \u201cIt is due to years of hard work and dedicated service to our clients. Indirectly it is our clients thanking us for the quality products we offer them, as they voted for us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI would like to thank our clients for their continuous support over the past 34 years. They inspire us to be the best, to offer more affordable products and good service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
