The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in Kariega is searching for the mother that abandoned her little girl during the early hours of this morning, January 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that at about 01:00, the woman left the child with some vagrants that were sleeping behind the Van Vuuren Garage in Caledon Street, Kariega. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that the child, who is about 4 or 5 years old, was taken to the police station after the mother failed to fetch her. The woman is not known to any of the vagrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe child does not have any information about her residence, only that she is known as Kayla Jacobs,\u201d Naidu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police are investigating a case of child abandonment and appealing to anyone who can assist in tracing the mother or family of the child to contact D\/Capt. Sone Van Dyk on 083 234 8126 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. They can also visit the nearest police station. All information is confidential and callers may remain anonymous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
