A man from Rosedale\u2019s continued efforts to combat speeding in Kamesh Road, led to him being nicknamed \u201cMr Speedhump\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Speedhump, or Nico Nelson as he is known, said, \u201cFinally after more than seven years of petitions, the one after the other letters to officials, and lots of complaining and meetings, I am glad to see that speed calming measures are happening in Kamesh Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI did stacks of research on the road before I started with my traffic calming measures campaign during November 2017. Kamesh Road has a high accident record. Statistics confirmed that most of the accidents reported occurred in areas where there were no speed control measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNow, I will focus on the other problem area, to have speed humps in Acacia Street as well as a traffic circle at the Acacia\/Kamesh crossing. As this crossing links with the new R4.5 million extended road towards Moeggesukkel, the traffic has increased and at peak hour it is very busy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nelson currently is running a petition to have the necessary speed calming measures installed at the Acacia crossing as well as in streets where speeding is a problem, like Wagtail Street, Rosedale Lane and McNaughton Drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI like to serve my community. It is my right as a citizen to raise my concerns.
