{"id":45052,"date":"2023-11-24T10:28:43","date_gmt":"2023-11-24T08:28:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/udexpress\/ec-beauty-title-holders-win-power-tower-20231122\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T13:34:16","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T11:34:16","slug":"ec-beauty-title-holders-win-power-tower-20231122","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/udexpress\/ec-beauty-title-holders-win-power-tower-20231122\/","title":{"rendered":"EC beauty title holders win Power Tower"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Various beauty pageant title holders in the Eastern Cape recently built a food Power Tower in front of the Despatch Superspar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tower weighed a whopping 13.6 tons, and will be donated to various charities, homes and families in need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Power Tower Food Drive is an annual campaign where all nine provinces compete against each other to see who can raise the largest amount of food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs Eastern Cape 2023, Christie-Leigh Gouws said, \u201cWe stand together, we achieve together. Our Power Tower was called the Power Tower of Kindness because we believe we must do everything with kindness and humility. We as a team are so proud that we won this year, we also won in 2021 and now we have done it again.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gauteng team won in 2022, so when the local team found out they won this year, they all burst out in tears of joy, happy that they will be able to help their communities, especially just in time for Christmas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMost of the title winners are women, and you can imagine how heavy all that food was. But if you could see everyone\u2019s faces when we were off loading that truck\u2026! Not a single complaint! Giving back and being of service to others must be what always drives; it should be a lifestyle,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The distribution of the food has already begun and Gouws said the reaction of the beneficiaries reminds her and others why they do what they do so passionately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis one auntie takes care of about 300 children, and when we delivered the food to her, she cried in disbelief. She told us she was praying for a miracle to be able to cater to the needs of these children, and now that will be possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to encourage everyone to do the little that one can, because the little you have goes a long way in the lives of those who have nothing,\u201d Gouws concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Various beauty pageant title
