The winner of the Trevor Winer Scholarship was recently announced during Muir College\u2019s Valedictory Service. He is Likhaya Loyiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made by Prof. Winer on behalf of the trustees. Winer is a Muir College Old Boy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scholarship consists of R40 000 a year towards university expenses for four years of study to a deserving candidate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winer described the scholarship as follows,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its purpose is to financially assist academically gifted students matriculating from Muir College to obtain a degree from a South African university who, owing to personal and family financial circumstances, would have difficulty in doing so.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The scholarship is Trevor Winer\u2019s gift to the boys of Muir College \u2013 in that way it is different from other Muir awards and prizes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As in the past, the trustees assessed the top candidates through interviews and their reports, the students\u2019 own words, and the students\u2019 own marks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top five candidates who were interviewed were Eshaan Prag, Daniel Beckley, Matthan Slambee, Likhaya Loyiti and Lonwabiso Gaveni.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
