Reach for Recovery Kariega is a non-medical support organisation, which provides emotional care and practical support to persons affected with breast cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well-selected and trained volunteers, who each have experienced the breast cancer journey, render an emotional care and practical support programme to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In some of the regions a prosthesis service is also provided and the focus is also on indigent women that cannot afford this service. This service is done at no charge to the patient and is available to all state patients who can present a hospital card. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each of the branches does its own fund-raising; however, some funds are allocated to the organisation as a national contribution. This is used mainly for the prosthesis support programme. The organisation is managed by a National Manager who reports to a Board of Management consisting of four Reach For Recovery members and three independent members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The non-profit organisation is run by volunteers, and its primary expenditure in the Kariega area is the support service to patients, which includes a care bag and the breast prosthesis programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The volunteers are excited to see this organisation grow in the Kariega area as they raise awareness, build up credibility within the community, giving back to the community by helping others and developing lasting friendships within the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organisation\u2019s members recently had a successful awareness campaign at the Levyvale Superspar in Kariega, where they informed locals about the organisation, and answered some questions. Next up for Reach for Recovery Kariega is their first fun run\/walk awareness and fund-raising on Saturday, February 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Volunteer Wendy Medrisha Davids said, \u201cWe rely on the community for their support in order to make this event successful and hopefully it will become an annual event in Kariega.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entry forms will be available at UD Sports and Levyvale Superspar. The first 150 entries will receive an Avon bag. Entry fees and forms can be paid and handed in at only the two outlets. The entry fees are R50 for adults and R30 for children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
