MICAYLE Hendricks, a talented and dedicated young rugby player, has achieved a remarkable milestone by being chosen to represent the u\/18 South African Women\u2019s Rugby Team. This selection is a dream come true for Hendricks, who has worked tirelessly to hone her skills and pursue her passion for the sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel like a dream of mine is becoming a reality,\u201d Hendricks said, beaming with pride. \u201cI\u2019ve always loved rugby, and to be selected for the national team is an incredible honour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hendricks\u2019 journey in rugby began at a young age, playing informal games with her cousins at a local gym. It was here that a rugby coach noticed her natural talent and encouraged her to take up the sport formally. She then joined Progress Rugby Club in Kariega, where her teammates and coaches nurtured her growth and encouraged her to give her best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRugby has always been my motivation,\u201d Hendricks explained. \u201cI love watching it on TV, and I\u2019ve always told myself that one day I\u2019ll be playing on that field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout her rugby journey, Hendricks has been driven by a self-motivated passion for the sport. Her dedication and perseverance have paid off, earning her a place among the country\u2019s top young players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Balancing academic responsibilities with rugby commitments is a significant challenge, but Hendricks has demonstrated remarkable time management skills. \u201cIt\u2019s difficult, but I make it work,\u201d she said. \u201cI try to do my homework at home after rugby practice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hendricks\u2019 goals are ambitious and inspiring. She aims to make herself and her family proud, and ultimately play for the female South African 1st team. \u201cI want to make myself proud and my family proud,\u201d she said. \u201cOne day, I will play for the female South African first team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The principal of Gamble Street Secondary School where Hendricks is a Grade 10 learner, Keith August, expressed great pride in her achievement, highlighting the school\u2019s commitment to supporting learners in achieving their dreams. \u201cWe are thrilled to see Micayle\u2019s hard work and dedication paying off,\u201d said the principal. \u201cWe will continue to support her in every way possible, both on and off the field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
