The Nelson Mandela Bay Science & Technology Centre in Kariega, operated by MBDA, recently hosted a significant stakeholder engagement event, welcoming Board Chairperson, Glenda Perumal and Zola Antonie from merSETA for an insightful discussion on future investment opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Centre Manager, Singathwa Poswa facilitated the site visit, which focused on transforming the centre into a cutting-edge 4IR\/Innovation hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting emphasised the importance of advancing programmes to empower the youth and community, ensuring the Science & Technology Centre remains at the forefront of technological education and economic development in the Nelson Mandela Bay region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The centre\u2019s Singathwa Poswa said, \u201cDuring the stakeholder engagement at the Nelson Mandela Bay Science & Technology Centre, the following opportunities were discussed to enhance the centre\u2019s role as a hub for innovation and technological education: Infrastructure Development \u2013 Investments in modernising the Centre\u2019s laboratories, exhibition hall, auditorium, and training spaces; and Programme Expansion \u2013 Funding to develop new educational programmes focused on emerging technologies and artisan skills to provide the local communities, particularly the youth, with relevant skills and increase employability. This was the first interaction and therefore there is no firm agreement, but there is commitment to consider our proposals.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that by exploring potential investment opportunities, the centre aims to enhance its offerings and solidify its position as a leader in science and technology education. This strategic engagement is expected to pave the way for future growth and development, ultimately benefiting the local community and contributing to the region\u2019s economic prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe centre already offers programmes and initiatives that focus on STEMI (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Innovation) education. This transformation will build upon these foundations by incorporating more advanced technologies and innovation. Expected changes include a more modern and technologically advanced science centre; Enhanced programmes that include 4IR-related and artisan training courses focusing on emerging technologies, innovations, and initiatives to make programmes more accessible to the community, particularly to underrepresented groups.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
