The Motor Mech Competition, held at Daniel Pienaar Technical High School in Kariega on August 17, showcased the exceptional skills of 20 young students from five Eastern Cape schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, hosted in collaboration with the Motor Industry Workshop Association (MIWA) and Concept Crew Car Club, aimed to identify and nurture future talent in the automotive industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tjaart van der Walt from Port Rex Technical High School in Buffalo City emerged victorious, followed by Ashley Tom and Cian Stallenberg from Port Rex and Daniel Pienaar Technical High School, respectively. The winners received impressive prizes sponsored by NGK, Diesel Electric, Danny\u2019s Auto, and GUD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition consisted of five tests, and the top three contestants faced off in a final round that assessed their diagnostic expertise. Judges praised the high standard of the competition, with Reemo Swartz, RMI Regional Manager, noting that the students had done extremely well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event also featured the \u201cAlles-op-Wiele\u201d<\/span> show, which drew huge crowds and showcased nearly 700 classic cars. Pierre van Rensburg from Concept Car Crew expressed gratitude to the community and sponsors for their support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Daniel Pienaar Technical High School Principal, Kola du Toit, praised the event as a \u201ctruly magnificent weekend\u201d that highlighted the school\u2019s special ties with Concept Crew Car Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Peter van Mosseveld, RMI Regional Manager in the Eastern Cape, concluded that the show\u2019s growing popularity and stature make it a highlight among technical schools, providing an ideal platform to showcase the automotive industry and attract young talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In conclusion, Kariega\u2019s Stallenberg was full of praise and appreciation for the competition, \u201cWhen I first heard about the Motor Mech competition, I just knew that I had to enter. I have studied the theory for five years and have lots of practical experience from the workshop (as well as experiential learning \u2013 I work part-time). So, I saw this as an opportunity not to be missed to demonstrate my skills and to measure my abilities. The competition was stiff and I was humbled by my third place.
