Sundays River Valley Municipality Libraries marked the end of Heritage Month with a vibrant celebration at Lungephi April Library in Moses Mabida, Nqweba (previously Kirkwood). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was a colourful display of cultural pride and educational enrichment, aimed at encouraging and promoting a deeper appreciation for heritage among the younger generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learners from Bongolethu, Malmaison, Rietberg, and Bontrug Primary Schools, all located in Nqweba, gathered to showcase their talents in reading and poetry in indigenous languages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young participants demonstrated their linguistic skills, captivating the audience with their eloquence and passion for their mother tongues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative was part of a broader effort to promote arts, culture, heritage, and literacy among the youth. The celebration was not just about literature; it was a full sensory experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials took the time to prepare and present their favourite African traditional cuisines, offering a taste of the rich culinary heritage of the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dishes included Ulusu (tripe), Umpokoqo (drie pap), Sonka Samanzi (steamed bread), Mqombothi (African beer), Mgqusho (samp), pumpkin, cabbage, beef stew, and ginger beer. Each dish depicted the diverse and flavourful traditions that have been passed down through generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to the festive atmosphere, a local traditional group performed, teaching the young attendees about indigenous traditional dancing and singing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rhythmic beats and vibrant movements of the dancers brought the cultural heritage to life, providing a dynamic and engaging way for the youth to connect with their roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The municipality\u2019s spokesperson, Zusiphe Jaji, mentioned the significance of such events in preserving cultural heritage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
