SAPS detectives have opened a double murder case following the grim discovery of two burnt bodies in Khayelitsha, KwaNobuhle, yesterday, June 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Captain Andr\u00e9 Beetge, at approximately 08:35, police were notified about bodies found in bushes adjacent to 4th Avenue, Khayelitsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Upon arrival, members discovered the severely burnt remains of two unidentified females,” Beetge said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, “Preliminary investigations indicate the victims are estimated to be between 17 and 19 years old. The identities of the deceased remain unknown at this stage.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A community leader, Thamsanqa Nkevu who reported the incident at the KwaNobuhle Police Station after realising that the crime scene had not been attended to yet shared, “I got a phone call from a resident that does not want to be named about this incident and as soon as we cut the call, I went straight to the police station to report it. I arrived at the crime scene while the blood was still fresh and the bodies were still smoking.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, “We as the community lost out with the loss of these two women. I wish more men would realise the importance of keeping our sisters safe as they are the life-bringers. We need to protect our sisters.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beetge said that the motive for this heartless act is also unknown and forms a critical part of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the KwaNobuhle SAPS detectives under the leadership of the Serious Violent Crimes unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
