KARIEGA – Kariega police have opened an inquest following the discovery of a body found on Thursday, 5 March 2026 at approximately 09:00 in an open field across from Eroll Avenue, Scheepershoogte, Kariega.
According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that a passbyer discovered the body of an unknown African male, estimated to be between the ages of 50 and 60, and alerted the authorities.
“The identity of the deceased is still unknown at this stage,” she said. “The circumstances surrounding the death form part of an ongoing investigation.”
Anyone with information that could assist police in identifying the deceased is urged to contact the nearest police station.
