Saturday 6 September 2025 sets the scene for one of the most popular annual running and walking events in Cape Town\u2019s northern suburbs – the Jan Kriel Tekkie Challenge, brought to you by Food Lover’s Market. Hosted in Kuils River, this well-attended and popular event brings More than 2 500 runners and walkers in support of children with special educational needs.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heralding the start of spring, the Jan Kriel Tekkie Challenge is designed for the whole family. Both serious and novice runners and walkers come out to enjoy a day of fun. All participants receive a medal and qualify for fantastic lucky draw prizes. Events include the 5 km family-friendly Run or Walk, the 10 km Battle of the Sexes Run, and the 10 Miler\/ 16 km race. The latter two races are registered with WPA and boast great prize money.

Entries can be completed on race day in the Jan Kriel School hall from 06:00 until 15 minutes before the start of each race. Participants who have pre-entered can collect their race numbers on Friday, 5 September, between 14:00 and 18:00, or on race day, also from 06:00.
