With the rainy season approaching, the City aims proactively to repair as many potholes as possible to help maintain a safer and more reliable road network.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Residents across Cape Town report an average of 1 400 potholes to the City monthly. This allows the department to direct resources to these complaints and allows the prioritising of the most urgent cases.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We rely on residents to be our eyes on the ground as we prepare for the winter rains,&#8221; Mayco member for Urban Mobility Rob Quintas said. &#8220;By reporting potholes as soon as they are spotted we can act quickly to repair them before the weather worsens and causes further damage.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burst water pipes can also contribute to road damage. In some instances the work carried out on the road is a reinstatement following maintenance on underground services, such as water or electricity infrastructure. In these cases, the relevant directorate will repair the road once the service has been restored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to report a pothole:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the City of Cape Town APP;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phone the City&#8217;s customer call centre on 0860 103 089;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send an email to: contact.us@capetown.gov.za; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> log a service
