The 9Miles Project has launched the inaugural 100Wave Challenge to raise funds and spread the joy of surfing.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unique and exhilarating surf-a-thon is set to take place at the beginning of May at Strandfontein Pavilion. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspired by an internationally successful fundraising model, this first-of-its-kind event in South Africa will bring together surfers of all levels to ride 100 waves in a single day \u2014 all in the name of empowering at-risk youth.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The “100Wave Challenge” isn’t just about pushing surfing limits \u2014 it’s about giving back.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants will fundraise a minimum of R1 000 to support 9Miles Project’s youth and community empowerment programmes.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funds raised will go toward mentorship, education, skills development, and providing safe spaces for children in marginalised coastal communities.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The ocean is more than just a playground \u2014 it’s a place of healing, learning, and transformation,” says Nigel Savel, founder of 9Miles Project. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“With the 100Wave Challenge, we’re not only creating an epic surfing event but also using the power of the ocean to uplift our communities.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event is open to everyone, from seasoned surfers to complete beginners looking to catch their first wave. Solo surfers or teams can take on the 100-wave goal together. A maximum of 10 people can make up a team. Each member of the team would raise a minimum of R1 000 to enter.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Learner surfers can also join the challenge and will receive coaching on the day.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event includes an expo, music, beach activities, art stations, djembe drumming, sailing, snorkelling, SUP, swimming, wellness tents and so much more \u2014 making it a fun-filled weekend for all.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
9Miles Project is honoured to collaborate with many notable stakeholders including Patagonia who has been gracious to sponsor a team and incredible prizes.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
