Around R70 million is budgeted for the new high school set to be completed in Tafelsig. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) the first phase of the school will consist of six classrooms and is expected to open at the start of the second term (\u201cSchool brings hope\u201d, Tygerburger<\/em>, 12 February).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe school is planned with 15 classrooms, allowing for three classes per grade. The school will accommodate approximately 600 learners (when complete),\u201d says department spokesperson, Millicent Merton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is the third school to be built in Ward 82 of Tafelsig, including Paramount High school and Perseverance Primary school. The two schools already operational were built with prefabricated structures. No set date has been determined for permanent buildings at these schools, says Merton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPerseverance Primary School does not form part of the current plans to be replaced. The WCED is looking at all our schools in terms of risk and functionality and are prioritising the schools at greatest risk of failure for replacement to ensure that all our schools remain functional. Based on the Centralised Education Management Information System 2025 data, the school has an enrolment of 1 195 learners from Grade 1 to 7,\u201d she
