A man was left critically injured on Saturday (26 November) afternoon after he crashed into a tree on the N1 highway near Kraaifontein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shortly after his crash near the Brighton Road off-ramp, his vehicle caught alight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cParamedics arrived on the scene shortly after 14:00 where they found the vehicle well alight against the tree,\u201d says ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paramedics found the man lying some distance away from his vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe man was assessed and found to have sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life interventions. Once treated, the man was transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for urgent treatment,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is believed that the driver lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash into the tree. A passing motorist witnessed the vehicle burst into flames and immediately rushed to the man\u2019s aid, pulling him from the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
