Western Cape police along with the Hawks have arrested three people for the murder of Constable Mziwonke Siwisa (35). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement, the suspected killers were caught just one day after allegedly shooting Siwisa in Kraaifontein on Monday while on his way to work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha says the suspects aged between 21 and 22, were nabbed in Bloekombos in Kraaifontein on Tuesday and officers found them in possession of an illegal handgun with a filed-of serial number. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The handgun will be sent for ballistic tests to determine whether it is linked to other crimes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Siwisa, who was stationed at the Sea Border Unit at Table Bay Harbour, was shot and killed while reportedly on his way to work. His service pistol was stolen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation\u2019s national head, Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza, is pleased with the arrests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe claws are out for police killers. We promised that no stone will be left unturned in tracking those responsible for this heinous crime. We have maximised resources and continue to mobilise communities to identify and isolate those who have disregard for the rule of law in this country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
