Police have corrected information on an incident in which a Bonteheuwel teen was reportedly shot on Wednesday morning (11 January) while waiting for a lift to school. Instead, it has since been determined that the 17-year-old currently fighting for his life is a known gang member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police initially released a statement indicating the teen was waiting for a lift to school when he was shot in the face on the corners of Redberry Street and Bonteheuwel Avenue at 08:00. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bishop Lavis police spokesperson, Captain Marie Louw, says while investigating the matter the detective established that incorrect information had been supplied at the scene of the crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says the detective visited the School of Skills in Elsies River (where it was believed the boy was enrolled) and it has been established that he is a former learner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At this stage, she says, the teen is still receiving treatment at Groote Schuur Hospital and is allegedly a member of the 28s gang. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
