According to Byron la Hoe, spokesperson for the provincial transport department, this is part of the department\u2019s project to extend the third lane on the N1 from west of Durban Road to beyond the Old Oak Interchange. The temporary lane closures will be implemented during specific times from today (Monday 30 January) until Saturday 4 February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask motorists for their patience in the interest of providing better, safer roads for all,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an alert issued by the contractor, a general speed restriction of 60km will be applicable for the duration of the road works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The closures are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">N1 Outbound<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00a0Durban Road Interchange to Old Oak Interchange \u2013 permanent shoulder closure. Slow lane closure (08:00 \u2013 15:00).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0Excavations next to abutment of Lincoln overpass bridge between Jip de Jager and Durban road \u2013 no closure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Old Oak Interchange to Okavango interchange just after R300 off-ramp \u2013 Fast lane shoulder closure (08:00 \u2013 15:00).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minor operations on the side of the road (08:00 \u2013 18:00).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jip de Jager Interchange to Durban Road Interchange \u2013 permanent fast lane median shoulder closure.<br><p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">N1 Inbound:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 <\/p><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Durban Road interchange to Jip de Jager Interchange \u2013 permanent median shoulder closure.
