A man suspected of robbing a Parklands teenager more than two weeks ago was arrested by Table View police on Monday 6 February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Captain Adriana Chandler, police spokesperson, says two of their members were out on routine crime prevention duties in Parklands in the early hours of the morning when they noticed a suspicious character sitting on a street corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because this specific area is a hot spot for robberies, the police stopped and searched the man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man was wearing one glove, a hooded top and had a pair of scissors in his backpack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Chandler the police recalled a young teenager being robbed in January earlier this year by a suspect who fitted this description. The police assumed that the suspect might be linked to that particular case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspect was arrested for being in possession of a dangerous weapon and his photograph was taken.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police visited the house of the robbery victim and showed him the photograph, Chandler says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim, according to her, identified the man in the photograph as the person who had robbed him of his cellular phone on Monday 23 January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe 23-year-old suspect was then also charged with robbery,\u201d Chandler says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect will appearin the Cape Town Magistrate\u2019s Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
