Police acted swiftly in arresting four suspects in possession of a hijacked vehicle in Brackenfell on Wednesday 10 January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says the police\u2019s dog unit acted on information about a vehicle that had been hijacked in Delft on Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe officers found the vehicle on the R300, driving recklessly in the direction of Bellville at high speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen the police vehicle approached the hijacked Mini Cooper, the driver attempted to force the police vehicle off the road,\u201d Rwexana says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says shots were then fired at the tyres of the suspects\u2019 vehicle. Before the Brackenfell turn-off on the R300, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn a further attempt to evade arrest, four suspects jumped out of the vehicle and ran in different directions. One of the police dogs was on duty and was instrumental in apprehending one suspect, while another was arrested by a dog unit member.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says police from Kleinvlei Police Station subsequently arrested the other two suspects on Bottelary Road in Brackenfell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All four suspects, aged between 17 and 31 years, are expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate\u2019s Court once charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
