No arrests have been made since Darren Maggott (24) was
\nallegedly killed by an officer from the Maitland Flying Police Squad on
\nThursday 10 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maggott\u2019s mother, Marina Nagy, says when contacting the
\ninvestigating officers, they simply say \u2018the investigation is still in
\nprogress\u2019 even though there\u2019s footage and a case has been opened by the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s difficult to accept the loss of my son,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t let him go to rest in the memorial wall at our
\nCatholic church because something is telling me to do so when justice is
\nserved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Moses Dlamini of the Independent Police
\nInvestigative Directorate (IPID), the matter is still under investigation.
\nDlamini told TygerBurger that witness statements and video footage were
\nobtained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are awaiting technical reports and once we have received
\nthem we will be in a position to conclude our investigation,\u201d says Dlamini. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nagy is awaiting an appointment with the investigator and
\nsays she will not let the matter go to rest until justice has been served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
