Police in Bellville have been busy with a range of arrests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In one case a man in Bellville\u2019s CBD was apprehended for the
\npossession of an illegal firearm and ammunition on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Constables Dudley Abrahams and Charles Neelse were
\npatrolling the area when they stopped and searched a suspicious man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn his possession (they found) a 9mm pistol with serial
\nnumber filed off , four live rounds and one cartridge,\u201d Bellville police
\nspokesperson Jonathan Blankenberg says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspect could not respond when asked who the owner of
\nthe firearm was. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of an
\nillegal firearm and ammunition and will soon appear in court.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another case, two burglars were arrested last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While walking down a Boston street, the two men were
\napproached by two patrolling police officers last Monday at around 08:30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Blankenberg, one of the men was known to the
\npolice, who stopped and searched them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In their possession they found goods the police suspected
\nhad been stolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhilst busy questioning them the members heard over the
\nradio about a house breaking that occurred at Stanlou Court, Weltevreden
\nStreet, Boston, Bellville, which was just a street away from where the suspects
\nwere approached,\u201d Blankenberg explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officers, constables Vusi Masi and Shaun Plaatjies, took
\nthe suspects to the crime scene where they discovered that more items were
\nstolen from different garages at the same premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of the suspects then took the members to his sleeping
\nplace where the other goods were seized.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspects appeared in court last week on charges of
\nhousebreaking and theft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acting Station Commander of Bellville Police Station,
\nColonel Thembalani Matshahlana commended the members for their \u201coutstanding
