The Glenwood Neighbourhood Watch is not only involved in fighting crime, assisting the community and ensuring a safe environment, but also take the responsibility in social commitment towards schools in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When it comes to children, the future leaders, the Glenwood NHW does more than their fair share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe received a plea for support of a feeding scheme for underprivileged learners from the principal of Acacia Primary School. The majority of the learners accommodated by the school hail from neighbouring communities in and around Goodwood. There are currently between 30 and 40 learners that are in need of assistance, who attend school every day, not having anything to eat, at all \u2013 imagine trying to teach a child on an empty stomach,\u201d says James Ellis, chair of Glenwood NHW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In line with the NHW\u2019s buy-in into the Give Responsibly Campaign, they approached Heino Fourie, general manager of Glenwood Spar, for possible assistance. He immediately offered to support the initiative by donating a large quantity of 2-minute noodles to the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The donation was delivered to the school on Wednesday 23 February. \u201cThey were extremely grateful for the generous donation received. We were super impressed by the discipline and neatness of the premises, along with the respect which was shown by the learners. Some schools could really take a leaf out of this book. Our sincere appreciation goes out to Heino Fourie of Glenwood Spar for their support of Glenwood NHW\u2019s Social Upliftment Project \u2013 the need is huge,\u201d Ellis says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school is in need of the following items: milk, sugar, bread, jam, concentra\u00adted juice, 2-minute noodles, peanut butter or any other donation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If anyone can see their way clear to contribute towards feeding a child, please contact any member of the Glenwood NHW. They will gladly take you on board of this worthwhile project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt saddens us that the teachers from the school have taken it upon themselves to feed these children on a daily basis and we hope the community will assist.
