After being burnt down during service delivery protests in 2014, the Bloekombos Community Hall in Kraaifontein will be replaced with a brand new facility to the tune of R10,6 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a presentation at a subcouncil 2 meeting last week, the City of Cape Town outlined the project that is set to within weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The old hall of which only the steel framing is left, will be demolished and removed while the new hall will be constructed in Sam Njokezela Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will sport an outdoor stage and amphitheatre, activities hall, bathrooms and administration office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The facility will be complete with disabled ramps and toilets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
City official Oliver Wentley says local labour will be utilised at a target at 12%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Wentley the new community hall is set to be completed within 12 months and scheduled to open next year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe contractor was appointed during the lockdown period and authorities and other role players have since met with the community who expressed their happiness with the project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bloekombos councillor Siyabonba Duka from the ANC says the project as one of his own legacy projects hold high priority to him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He issued a stern warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will ensure that the company successfully starts and finishes work on the hall project. To those who plan to destabilise the project, I warn you, not this time, not under my watch.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
