Commuters travelling through Table View via the MyCiti can breathe a sigh of relief as the Grey MyCiti Station in Table View is set to reopen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This after the station had been closed since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic allegedly due to cost-saving measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City of Cape Town announced the opening last week and said this was based on the outcome of a management meeting which took place on Friday 8 April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt has been decided to open the Grey MyCiti Station,\u201d the City\u2019s Mayco member for urban mobility, Rob Quintas says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe transport operations team has been informed of the decision and the opening of the station has been prioritised.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However the exact date of the opening is still unknown. The City says they will announce the date in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The closure of the station had most commuters irate using the MyCiti bus service along the Blaauwberg Road route heading towards Dunoon, Table View and the Waterfront. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A resident Achmat Tassiem says he sees no reason why the station is still closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPassengers have returned to work, students have returned to school and there has been no response from the municipality despite numerous requests to reopen the station,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was recently reflected on a social media platform calling for the reopening of the Grey Station along Blaauwberg Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tassiem told TygerBurger <\/em><\/span>that the closure of the station has caused a tremendous amount of inconvenience especially for the residents of the nearby retirement village in Grey
