A new cellphone application makes it easy for residents of Cape Town to log service requests or complaints to the City of Cape Town, anywhere and anytime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u2018My Cape Town App\u2019 was privately developed by Eugene Mulder from Brackenfell in 2017, but only recently gained traction after social media exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The app that is available on Google Play Store free of charge makes it very convenient for residents to log complaints to the City from the comfort of their phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt acts as a vehicle for the City\u2019s C3 complaint system by directly taking you to that platform on the City\u2019s website where you can log or follow-up on a complaint,\u201d says Mulder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMany people know about C3s, but not where to find it. The City\u2019s website is very big and often not very user friendly. It can be difficult to navigate and find the service you are looking for if you don\u2019t know where to go look for it,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are currently 10 000 residents using the app according to Mulder. The app is free of advertisements and will remain so, he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt first not many people knew about the app of the C3 service request system, but thanks to recent Facebook exposure gained much popularity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rhynhard Bresler, councillor for Ward 102 in Brackenfell and Kraaifontein, says the app is a great help to himself and he urges residents to use it as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is very handy; you can even sit in your car and send a complaint immediately as you see it, for instance a man cover hole that is missing or a pothole. I use it daily. It will help me a lot if a resident first logs a complaint and gets a reference number from the City for me to work on when they approach me,\u201d says Bresler. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
