Beautify Melkbosstrand, a voluntary community project, started by Rozanne Visagie in March 2021, focusses on visually enhancing the streets of the seaside town, explained Visagie, who felt \u201cinspired\u201d to beautify her home during the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The community project was initially inspired by Santie Coetzee who established the Bloubergstrand beautifying team, a similar community project focussing on creating \u201cgreen spaces\u201d in the town adjacent to Melkbosstrand, Visagie said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEach volunteer contributes in a unique way to the success of the Beautify Melkbosstrand voluntary community project,\u201d Visagie told TygerBurger<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beautifying community projects includes the tidying and planting of shrubs, trees and flowers in community and private gardens, setting up irrigation, and the creation of artwork across various public platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith the volunteers\u2019 enthusiasm and combined expertise and passion gaining strength and momentum over the last few months, many new projects followed,\u201d Visage told TygerBurger<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the areas that were planted and cleaned included Arniston flats, Melkbosstrand\u2019s police and fire stations, the beachfront, as well as the local neighbourhood watch, Visagie explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith the help and sponsorship of a local paint specialist and a local artist, Beautify Melkbosstrand was also able to restore and paint the town\u2019s fishing boat to welcome visitors into the town,\u201d Visagie said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the community project volunteer whenever a new beautifying plan is launched, because they are passionate about Melkbosstrand, explained Visagie, who said that to date there are 10 active members of the community project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
