Jo-Anne Pentz from Bothasig is currently exhibiting her artwork at Stodels in Milnerton as part of the exhibition of the Blaauwberg Art Society until Monday 20 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI consider myself a creative. From a very young age I was making my own clothing, crocheting and trying as many hobbies as possible. I was 46 when I decided to try painting. First doing drawing lessons then progressing to painting. Painting fast became my favourite hobby. My preferred medium is oil paints. I love painting and sketching plein air. As a member of Blaauwberg Art Society I regularly attend their monthly meetings, monthly plein air outings and participate in their regular exhibitions,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Pentz there are many advantages of belonging to an art society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have found the time mingling with like-minded people and learning from the many demonstrators and workshops organised, invaluable. My \u2018Volksie\u2019 paintings were inspired by a plein air outing to Brahms Domain wine farm in Paarl,\u201d says Pentz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have had the privilege of being mentored by many encouraging teachers including Kami Brodie at Ruth Prowse School of Art and the late Jenny Merritt. Painting is my happy place.
