The campaign showcases the most clicked on beaches, museums and general points of interest in South Africa over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn the 15 years since its launch, Google Street View has come a long way,\u201d according to a media release, \u201cfrom going under water to capture the Great Barrier Reef in 2012, being available in [virtual reality] in 2015, to exploring the \u2018Top of the World\u2019 in Canada in 2017\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Boulders Beach in Simon\u2019s Town, famous for its African penguin colony, came in first place, followed by Hole in the Wall on the Eastern Cape\u2019s Wild Coast in second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kreeftebaai owes its popularity to the easily accessible serenity the beach offers, according to Hein K\u00f6hne, station commander of Melkbosstrand National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is also a good fishing, bodyboarding, and surfing spot,\u201d Barnes said, adding that it can be dangerous as the strong currents make it dangerous for swimming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
